Finally I got a Sunflower. I had to buy one at the grocery store but it worked just fine. I used the Fuji S2 (just to see what it could do) and the Nikon 60mm F2.8 AF lens. It’s not the new 60mm AF-S lens. Also did this handheld..Should always use a tripod with macro.

Matt,
Thanks very much and I certainly enjoyed your blog. I’m putting you into my ‘blogroll’ right now so others can see your interesting pictures.

Hi Chrisy,
I always appreciate your nice comments. And I guess I held my breath pretty well for this picture. I know to always use the tripod for macro but just didn’t have time when I took this Sunflower

Sunflowers always seem to shout “take my photograph”.
Planted some seeds in June, too late – wishful thinking. Some thin stems grew one foot high, looked at the dreadful British summer weather and decided “perhaps next year”.
In the mean time I can look at your photograph and imagine what might have been.

Yesbuts,
I agree about the Sunflowers…they do shout at me but I don’t see them enough. I’ll find more at the store and then you can enjoy them too
Thanks for commenting…You always make me smile

Hi Gaye!
Sunflowers are one of my and Ines’ favorite flowers, especially Ines. Your photo is tops though I was puzzled…could the grocery folks have eaten the black sunflower seeds that usually fill the center of these big blooms?!? Probably it was seed producing time when the flower was picked…nice job!
I have been perusing your site today a little extra as my iraqi colleagues are absent from the office for big EID holiday here so things are kinda slow…what a treat your photos are and the stories you publish with them…
One of the herons was purple-looking! Stunning!

Scott,
They probably never made it to the grocery store.
Wow, great to hear from you and thanks for looking at my blog. Yes, the Sunflowers are wonderful flowers and always give me good cheer. Don’t know where those seeds are unless the birds ate them
Many of my pictures I get right around the house so you can appreciate that. The little lake behind us sometimes has many birds using it as their ‘fish pond’.
We’re all thinking of you over there in Iraq!
