Macro Flower with Sigma 150mm Macro lens at ISO 2500

I found no birds or anything interesting in my yard so took this picture of the only thing I could find. This is an Ixora flower on a hedge. I used the D3 Nikon DSLR camera and the Sigma 150mm Macro lens.  My purpose was to try out that lens and camera so this picture was at ISO 2500 and F16.  It was quite dark outside so needed the high ISO.  I’ve never used ISO 2500 before and now think I can use it anytime its needed.  It certainly makes the camera much more flexible in low light.  Because I didn’t plan to do a macro picture I didn’t have a tripod. I know it should always be used in macro photography but in this case I only wanted to see the results of the high ISO. Sure wish now I had used one because the picture would be much sharper. I learned a good lesson with this one. And why take a ‘macro’ lens and not a tripod  :-)
