Today I found an interesting Areca palm right outside my back door. My plan this week is to look for pictures in my yard. I think if I venture around my own yard I’ll find many photo opportunities. Actually I’ve been doing that recently but now have decided to make a project out of it. I found the White Ibis and the Anhinga out there just seventy five feet from my back door. My tendency is to think all the pictures are ‘out there’ in other parts of the city rather than right here under my nose.
Here’s the Areca that is by my back door. It was backlit.
I took this with the Nikon D3 and the Zeiss 100mm F2 Manual Focus lens @F2.8*************

Chrisy, thanks very much..I hope to find much more out there this week. In fact, last evening went out and found a rainbow above our house. I guess that will count as being an ‘in my yard’ picture. Just couldn’t find the ‘pot of gold’.

This shot is brilliant because it focuses on the bamboo shoot furthest away, but you don’t realise this until you look at the bottom of the image – then you start thinking your eyes are playing tricks.

Yesbuts, thanks for stopping to comment. Yes, that aperture at 2.8 really has a narrow depth of field. And of course this Areca tree in my yard gives me plenty of photo opportunities. The plant seems to have ‘moods’ appearing with every change of light.. That means you’ll see lots more of this one
Thanks again!
