BURROWING OWL
This little creature is about 7-10 inches tall. They stand outside their holes
and their heads go all around looking for preditors from the sky. This Owl looks
much bigger than it is. I’ve forgotten what I took this with but pretty sure it was
the Nikon 500mm F4 AF II lens..

This is a Grackle (pretty sure about that ID ) . I got this with the Nikon D300 and
the Nikon 70-300VR lens. The bird was standing on a fence at a park. It
was shaking because it had gotten wet in the nearby lake.
This Great White Egret I got at the Venice Rookery in Venice, Florida. If you’ve never been
to the Venice Rookery you’re in for a great treat. The island is covered with birds and
with nests with chicks.

You can learn lots about it in the link I’ve included.

Bernie, you’re so right about their eyes. They are huge compared to the rest of their bodies…Those eyes make photography even more fun!

As I were looking at your blog, and one fantastic photo came after another, I didn´t know at wich one I should write my comment. My husband just passed me, and said “What a fantastic photo” when he saw the BURROWING OWL, so this one it will be. I can´t belive that you have just started taking photos some years ago…you are certainly a fast learner!

Oh my gosh. I love that egret shot. And I plan on visiting the rookery as soon as I can, I’ve heard nothing but good about it.

Thanks, Al. You’ll enjoy the rookery and hope you can get there when the chicks are young. That’s fun for me.
